We are looking for an MIH Paramedic

Job Summary:

The Mobile Integrated Health Paramedic (MIH Paramedic) provides primary care and/or advanced life support, including medical evaluation, treatment and stabilization of the critically ill and injured patients with the goal of reducing morbidity. The MIH Paramedic functions in collaboration with existing health services; provides integrated health services in partnership with other health professionals e.g. Home Health Nurses, Discharge Planners, Case Managers; extends access to health services delivery in underserved and general populations, including primary care, public health, disease management, prevention and wellness; and performs other duties as required.

 

 Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs all Primary Job Responsibilities listed for MIH Paramedic.
  • Examines, screens, treats and coordinates health services for patients.
  • Conducts post-hospital release follow-up care including, but not limited to, home assessments, monitoring medication, and checking vital signs.
  • Observes, records, and reports to physician or his/her delegate, patient’s conditions and reactions to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents.
  • Conducts patient education, including diabetes prevention/treatment, hypertension, Congestive Heart Failure (CHF), Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), falls assessment, injury evaluation, geriatric frailty visits, and nutrition.
  • Administers patient care consistent with protocols and physician orders.
  • Coordinates appointments and follow-up with physicians and hospitals.
  • Maintain current in EMS rules and regulations, Billing practices, Documentation standards, HIPAA, OSHA, Compliance, Superior Ambulance policies and procedures.
  • Maintain records to assure compliance with the EMS system, Indiana Department of Homeland Security and Superior Ambulance policy.
  • Demonstrate the ability to function independently; to prioritize, delegate, and utilize critical thinking skills in a variety of situations.
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills with all external and internal customers, including patients and their families, hospital staff, the community and other Superior Ambulance staff.
  • Represents Superior Ambulance in a professional manner.
  • Maintain complete and accurate records, participate in quality assurance programs, perform data collection and participate in any special projects.
  • Attends meetings as requested and available.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Current qualification as a Paramedic with a minimum two (2) years’ experience. Any exception must be approved by MIH administration.
  • Must successfully complete pre-employment testing, including a complete physical and lifting agility examination.
  • Within one year : ACLS, PALS, GEMS AND PHTLS/ITLS
